A new tourism helpline service has been launched in Goa by the Department of Tourism, Government of Goa today. The launch was done in the presence of State Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte.

However, the opening call made by the Chief Minister to a customer care executive turned into a gaffe as the executive was unable to tell him the starting point of the Goa Carnival 2023. The chief minister, to demonstrate its functioning, called the helpline number and asked for the details of the upcoming Goa Carnival.

Replying to the query, the customer care executive told the CM that the Carnival will be celebrated from February 18 to 21. A follow up question was popped up by Sawant about the venue for the first day of the festival. To this, the Executive said, “The location given is Panaji, Mapusa, Margao, and Vasco, but the first place is not yet finalised.” This left Sawant and the entire team red-faced.

Expressing surprise, Sawant told the executive that he would take up the issue with the Tourism Minister. The tourism helpline number is 1364.
