New tourism law inaugurated by the Saudi Cabinet

Disaster management procedures and financial assurances will be part of a new tourism law inaugurated by the Saudi Cabinet for heightening a “renaissance” in the sector.


The arriving monitoring system, which will help tourism’s growth in agreement with the purposes of Saudi Vision 2030, would assist in the expansion of the guiding and legislative setting of the sector.


Among the changes are methods to cope with crises, protect against risks, and provide financial assurances for tourism happenings, reinforcing relation between investors, tourists and specific authorities.


On the whole, tourism expenditure in Saudi Arabia, comprising residents and foreigners, went up 52 percent in 2021 to SR95.6 billion from SR63.4 billion from the year before, as per data available by the Saudi Central Bank.

Ahmed Al-Khateeb, the Saudi Minister of Tourism said that the new system will allow them to perform their tasks to confirm the facility of first-rate services enriching the experiences of tourists and visitors and enabling them to procure investments and administer the sector competently and effectually.


Al-Khateeb said that the new system will support a qualitative rebirth of the Saudi tourism sector and its expansion consistent with the intents of the Saudi Vision 2030.

The new system comprises a set of articles connected to the authorizing of undertakings, their categorizations, principles, necessities, and control over them, providing adequate flexibility for the tourism sector.
