Nest week, the Danville Office of Economic Development and Tourism, will reveal the outcome after getting over 2,000 responses to a regional survey on tourism branding.
The principal aim was to set up a local tourism brand along with marketing program. While not specifically mentioned, in 2024, the development of a new casino in Danville is hoped to draw around 2 million visitors on an yearly basis, and this will improve the tourism industry of the region on a dramatic basis.
Information collected in the review process will assist to shape the “tourism story” of the region for years to come, an earlier news release said.
Lisa Meriweather, tourism manager, said that there were valuable insights that come out from this recent survey. She is thrilled to share with her partners at Eddie Alexander what they knew and how they are making the use of it in their process. In this area, big things are occurring and sharing the information that they are collecting through this process is critical to make sure that they are a community-led, and are building a data-supported regional tourism program.
For the city of Danville and Pittsylvania County, the Danville Office of Economic Development and Tourism, is the official destination marketing organization.
