The New Year and Christmas is a peak time for tourism as well as the hospitality sectors. This year, expectations from the festive season were very high too. After seeing discouraging times for the last nine months, the sectors were placing high hopes on the festive season. However, night curfew is destroying all hopes and the government is yet to pay attention to the plights of the hospitality and food industry.
During a meeting with chief secretary last weekend, representatives of many industry bodies urged him to lift the curfew which is virtually killing the nascent recovery in the tourism industry.
With peak tourist season knocking at doors, night curfew needs a serious thought – the lifting of which is important for tourism recovery. Otherwise, the sector would be in deep trouble.
