Meghalaya will be hosting the nine-day Meghalaya Age Festival to promote high-end tourism in the region. The Meghalaya Tourism Department will be organising this festival to ensure Meghalaya scores high in the tourism circuit.

Latest reports state that the festival will be held in the scenic Thadlaskein area, situated in West Jaintia Hills in the second week of March. Referring to this, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma stated that this event will be hosted to promote the brand Meghalaya to its ultimate high-end tourism potential. The Chief Minister also added that the fest will be held in the second week of March tentatively from March 6 or 7, and will be held for a period of nine days.

He also mentioned that we are living in the Meghalayan Era and that the world needs to be informed about this. He added that they will brand Meghalaya and invite visitors to experience the region in a different style, by hosting various music and cultural activities.

As per his statements, the highlights of this event will be glamping, hot air balloons, and caving. While glamping will be held in Meghalaya for the first time, around 50 five-star luxury tents will be set up for visitors, which will come equipped with all high-end features. The Chief Minister further mentioned that they want to promote Meghalaya in a very big way and that the Meghalaya Age Festival is just the beginning of their ambitious tourism plan.

He added that during the festival, the state government will announce achievers from the region, who will be chosen from different fields, such as education, farming, business, health care, and sports.
