Norwegian Cruise extends 100% vaccination requirement

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd.’s vaccine requirement will remain in place “indefinitely,” president and CEO Frank Del Rio said Wednesday on the company’s third-quarter earnings call.

Del Rio said that they have indefinitely extended our 100% vaccination requirement. He thinks that today that continues to be a competitive advantage for three brands.

The decision comes given continued concerns around public health and a commitment to protect passengers, Christine Da Silva, senior vice president of Branding and Communications for Norwegian, in a statement Wednesday.

All passengers and crew must be fully vaccinated at least two weeks before departure, acknowledge their vaccination status ahead of boarding and show proof of vaccine while boarding.

NCLH, parent company to Norwegian Cruise Line, Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Oceania Cruises, initially instituted the 100% vaccination requirement in April and extended it through the end of the year in August.

There are no exemptions, including no age-related exemptions, to the 100% vaccination requirement.

Tuesday’s news that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention approved children ages 5 through 11 to be vaccinated was welcome. It “will allow for an expanded group of 100% vaccinated guests, especially families to sail on our brand,” Del Rio said.
