Norwegian Cruise Line has unveiled exciting upgrades to its private island, Great Stirrup Cay, in the Bahamas, marking a significant transformation in the guest experience. The centerpiece of this renovation is the spectacular Great Life Lagoon, an expansive pool area offering a mix of relaxation and adventure. These enhancements are set to elevate the tropical escape, providing guests with new, luxurious amenities and an unmatched vacation experience, ensuring an unforgettable island getaway.

Norwegian Cruise Line® (NCL), a leader in global cruise travel, has revealed exciting new images showcasing the first phase of major upgrades to Great Stirrup Cay, its private island in the Bahamas. The highlight of the transformation is the Great Life Lagoon, a vast pool area spanning nearly 6,000 square metres. This expansive space includes a heated pool, a Splash Harbor splash pad for younger guests, and the Vibe Shore Club, an adults-only area designed for relaxation and fun.

The island’s new pier improves access for visitors, making it easier than ever to enjoy everything Great Stirrup Cay has to offer. At the heart of the renovation, the Great Life Lagoon features a beach-style entrance that leads into a playful splash zone with water attractions for children. For adults, two swim-up bars offer convenient access to refreshing cocktails while lounging around the massive pool, which is larger than two Olympic-sized pools. Guests can unwind in private cabanas that surround the pool, offering picturesque views of the ocean and the pool area.

For those seeking an exclusive experience, the Vibe Shore Club provides a luxurious, adults-only retreat, featuring private cabanas and a dedicated bar, available through an all-day pass. Families will also enjoy the new Splash Harbor, a complimentary splash pad just steps away from the pool. Looking to the future, Norwegian Cruise Line is excited to expand its island offerings with the launch of the Great Tides Waterpark in the summer of 2026. This thrilling new attraction will feature an array of slides and experiences suitable for guests of all ages. At the heart of the waterpark will be 19 waterslides, providing everything from high-energy thrills to more relaxed adventures. The centerpiece will be the Tidal Tower, home to eight thrilling slides, including two of the tallest ones, where visitors can enjoy exhilarating drops and climbs in inner tubes for an unforgettable ride. Additional attractions at Tidal Tower include fast-paced racing slides for those seeking a competitive edge, twisting tube slides that spin riders in unexpected ways, and adrenaline-charged body slides. To enhance convenience, some slides will feature conveyor belts to effortlessly transport rafts to the top, eliminating the need for guests to carry them.

As Norwegian Cruise Line continues to enhance Great Stirrup Cay, the company anticipates hosting over one million guests on its private island in 2026, with visits across 17 ships. This includes the newest addition to the fleet, Norwegian Aqua®, which will offer seven-day Caribbean cruises from Miami and Port Canaveral (Orlando) through October 2027, calling at destinations like the Dominican Republic, U.S. Virgin Islands, British Virgin Islands, and more. Norwegian Aqua will be joined by Norwegian Luna™, which will debut in March 2026 and offer similar seven-day Caribbean itineraries from April through October 2026, visiting the same stunning tropical locations.
