Now Ladakh to open forbidden zones to public

In an attempt to enhance tourism in Ladakh region, management has unveiled about plans to make all the prohibited zones accessible to all visitors. As a result, if anyone who has been keen to explore Chang Chenmo, Tsogtsalo and Marsimik La regions for long time but failed, can be done now!


Tourists in the coming days will be able to indulge in bike touring the strategic and prohibited Chang Chenmo sector, which is in close proximity to Pangong Lake, patrolling points in Ladakh. Tourists from now on will be permitted to visit 18314 ft high Marsimik La and go up to Tsogtsalo, as per the recent sources. These places are located close to the LAC with China.


Travellers in Ladakh in phase two can now explore a memorial constructed in the honour of 10 CRPF jawans and hot springs of these regions. On October 21, 1959, these soldiers were killed by the Chinese.


The India Army HQ regarding the queries from TOI said that Indian Army encouraged the opening of many treks and routes like Marsimik La, besides other such places like the Hot Spring and Tsogt Salo.


Officials stated that the government of Ladakh in January was all set with plans to introduce selfie points and medical centres. A senior official stated that Border Roads Organization has been persuaded to build with district funding. Also, police are prepared to set up check posts.
