Now, it’s time to look once again to Australia

It has recently been declared that Prince William and Kate are all set to explore Australia this summer. They will visit areas destroyed by the bushfires that left 33 people dead and over 2,000 homes demolished. And I say that even staunch republicans should consider doing as the royals do.

On Jan, I spent many weeks exploring all around the country. And Yes, I definitely felt extremely bad jollying my way across the outback as huge strip of the country remained burning but hopefully, the articles I write will help in its recovery in some small way, and one of the best ways to support this recovery is by heading down under too.

Admittedly, finding the right balance is pretty difficult — it’s crucial we recognize the devastating impact of the fires. But research is key. On a four-day train ride between Perth and Sydney, fears were there as we saw a whiff of smoke, even though we were hundreds of miles from the fires.

My parents, who have crisscrossed the globe, got truly anxious, and many fellow train passengers revealed they’d tried to call off their journey regardless of the fact that there was little chance we’d be passing through bushfire areas, even if they worsened.

In Sydney, news reports documented the rising cost to the tourism industry, mainly due to half truths being spread. Bookings dropped country-wide, from Uluru to the Whitsundays.

Thanks to recent deluges, it seems that the danger is over. My top recommendations?

Celebrate the Indian Pacific’s 50th anniversary by taking this famous train from Perth to Sydney, then go to the Whitsundays, where the InterContinental Hayman Island Resort of late has reopened after a post-Cyclone Debbie facelift. Or explore the Blue Mountains on the world’s steepest passenger railway.
