It has become a problem that Northern Territory businesses are struggling to conquer; a severe dearth of staff members is compelling shops to close their services at the busiest time of the year.

The shortage of staffs caused by the pandemic are battering the economy of Australia hugely, creating vacant supermarket shelves and shops and restaurants getting shutting down their doors.

Even though there is no available information on exactly how many people are off work, some companies are emphasizing that more than half of their employees are not capable to attend office.

The most hard-hit sectors have been trucking and logistics in particularly, so is the meat industry. In the shiny lobby of the well-known Darwin hotel, Markus Kaliss , the manager, says that for the venue , this dry season has the possibility to draw a record bookings, only if he could gather satisfying number of staff members.

He said that at this moment, they are not booked fully; however, we’re already saying that that’s it; we cannot sell anymore as we won’t be in a position to handle, unless we have enough staffs to fall back.

Now, we are covering up our capacity, simply for the reason of staff shortage.

For businesses, the COVID-19 has welcomed two tough years, and Mr Kalliss’s hotel is one of those innumerable hotels, bars and restaurants all over Australia which are fighting hard to meet the rising demand of staff shortages.
