The Tourism Department has taken a decision to arrange an eco-retreat festival with an aim to give exposure to the serene beach at Pentha, Kendrapara district in Odisha, officials said.
For the first time, festival of this type is being arranged at the scenic beach. This festival will be a three-and-a-half-month long event. It will start from November 15, a district official said.
For the tourists’, fifteen luxury tents will be pitched in the middle of the natural scenery for 106 days. In the adjoining mangrove forest, cultural festivals, food festivals and trekking are the added attractions of the event, Kendrapara Sub-collector Niranjan Behera said.
In 2020, at Nalitapatia village, the department had hosted a three month-long eco-retreat festival.The Tourism department will be starting with the online booking of the tents for the festival in few days from now, district tourist officer Himalaya Tripathy said.
The camp is adjacent to the mangrove and casuarina forest. People who love nature will relish the picturesque beauty of the beach, an official said.
For the locals, the festival is expected to generate income. A photo exhibition, seminar exhibition of films on Bhitarkanika and its rich flora and fauna will also be held during the fete.
