Havana, Apr 24th, the efforts of the authorities and specialists to recuperate the leisure industry along with Cuba’s natural potentialities are lifting up the expectations about the 40th International Tourism Fair, FITCuba 2022.

From May 3rd to 7th,, the fair would be hosted at the Plaza America fairgrounds in Varadero, Cuba’s major coastal resort. Roughly, it’s located 140 kilometers east of Havana.

Those expectations are quite acceptable by a constant rise in the recreational activities of Cuba since November 15th, when its borders opened to travel, as health security rules implemented in the middle of the pandemic were made simplified.

Cuba in 2021, received 573,944 foreign tourists, as per the National Statistics and Information Office. These statistics in 2020 accounts for 39.8 percent of those who arrived in the country and its equivalent to 869,181 fewer visitors, even though Cuba in mid-November showed insignificant revival upturn in the sector.

At present, hotel construction and re-modelling programs are in progress to get 71,000 more rooms in some 300 hotels nationwide, particularly in four and five-star establishments.

In these health difficulty times, Russia and Canada have crowned themselves as Cuba’s one of the main tourist-sending markets, especially to Varadero and the northern keys in Cuba’s central region.

In 2022, Cuba is set to receive 2.5 million foreign visitors, considering that it received more than four million tourists per year before the pandemic struck.
