One million people heading for Cancun and Riviera Maya this holiday season

About one million people are travelling south to Cancun and Riviera Maya this holiday season. As per the municipal authorities of Riviera Maya, a million travellers are expected to land at the Cancun International Airport. Cancun alone is expected to welcome half a million visitors.

 

 

 

The director of the Tourism Promotion Council of Quintana Roo Darío Flota Ocampo says that 422,267 tourists are expected to set foot to Cancun-Puerto Morales and 506,333 are expected to reach Riviera Maya.

 

 

 

 

Tourists are also expected in Isla Mujeres (66,745), Chetumal (44,508), Cozumel (42,822) Holbox (17,899), Bacalar (9,365), Mahahual (9,056), Felipe Carrillo Puerto (4,314) and José María Morelos (1,356).

 

 

 

 

These tourist numbers are for the period December 20, 2018, to January 6, 2019.

 

 

 

 

Hot or warm Christmas is in vogue and complements White Christmas in the mountains.

 

 

 

The increase in the number of tourists is a result of various factors – perseverance of Tourism Promotion Council of Quintana Roo and Medellin-Cancun route. The State Department of United States have not put travel restrictions for Cancun.

 

 

 

A research by ForwardKeys shows that 22.3 per cent U.K. travellers are keen on travelling to Cancun.

 

 

 

Cancun offers the benefit of enjoying Yuletide fun under warm sun.
