Thomas Orchard has been appointed as the new managing director of Carlisle Bay, Antigua.
Orchard will be looking after the management of the 87-suite luxury Caribbean resort a part of the Harcourt Group.
Orchard is a seasoned hotelier with many years of experience in luxury properties to his new position. This includes the Como Hotels & Resorts where he has was the regional general manager for the past 17 years.
During his tenure at Como, the company grew from three to fourteen handpicked and individually curated properties located across the globe.
There he was responsible for the operation, development and strategy of two London five-star hotels: The Metropolitan on Park Lane and The Halkin in Belgravia.
Educated from the Middlesex University, Orchard he had spent his early years in the Caribbean working for Royal Caribbean Cruise Line.
He joined Rock Resorts after returning home along with the pre-opening team for Hanbury Manor which a five-star country house hotel in Hertfordshire as front office manager, before he moved to London as the executive assistant manager at The Berkeley.
He was recommended to the Ong family and subsequently moved to Como Hotels & Resorts in the year 2000.
He further supported the openings of the new properties in Bali, Bhutan and the Maldives. He also holds valuable experience in the Caribbean through his involvement in the Parrot Cay in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
John Paul Doherty, creative and marketing director for Harcourt Developments was delighted to have Thomas on board as he brings with him a wealth of experience in the luxury and privately owned properties that will benefit the Carlisle Bay.
