On Friday just a minute before landing, a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) passenger plane crashed near the Jinnah International Airport in Karachi according to CAA sources.
It was further revealed by the CAA sources that PK-303, a PIA Airbus A320 from Lahore was about to land in Karachi when it crashed at the Jinnah Garden area near Model Colony in Malir.
The communication with the plane one minute before its landing was cut off and it is estimated that 98 people were aboard the plane in total, including 91 passengers and seven flight crew.
In order to assist the civil administration in relief and rescue efforts the Pakistan Army Quick Reaction Force & Pakistan Rangers Sindh troops arrived at the crash site.
In the area closer to the plane crash several houses were damaged.
A huge cloud of black smoke filled the air and a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) spokesman confirmed there was 107 passengers on board the flight.
At this stage it is unknown if there has been any casualties but dark clouds of smoke were seen rising from the crash site.
