Palladium Hotel Group is removing single-use plastics from properties in Ibiza and Tenerife. They will replace all single-use plastics with biodegradable materials.
Palladium Hotel Group has 48 hotels across six countries. It started its plastic substitution project last year and aims to complete the elimination of single-use plastics ahead of this summer’s season. The initiative covers the Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza, Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife, Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel, and all the properties under the Palladium Hotels and Grand Palladium Hotels & Resorts brands in Europe.
Deputy Director General of quality and operations, Carmen Matutes, said that it has long been their aim to reduce the use of single-use plastics in their hotels. They had launched a pilot initiative at Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife in 2018 by initially eliminating straws which was a great success. They aim to eliminate all-single-use plastics and expand the campaign to include Ibiza properties.
This move is just one step in a series of environmental efforts being undertaken by the group.
Matutes said, “We want to continue moving forward in this line because we are very aware of the importance of the environment and that caring for our environment is a responsibility of everyone.”
