Paris and Los Angeles to host Olympic Games 2024 and 2028, decides IOC

iccThe International Olympic Committee announced during a meeting in Lima Peru that Paris will be the host city for 2024 Olympic Games and Los Angeles in 2028.

A majority of the cities dropped out after a raft bidding, after the local opposition Budapest, Hamburg and Rome withdrew from the race for 2024.



Initially the cities wanted to host the 2024 event but LA agreed to wait an extra four years after the IOC made guarantees on funding. The IOC will fetch $2 billion towards the Los Angeles’ hosting costs.


Earlier the Paris games had fallen short with bids in the year 2008 and 2012 and it will mark 100 years as it was last held in the French Capital.


The Olympic Games was last hosted in Los Angeles in the year 1932 and 1984.


Thomas Bach, the president of IOC congratulated Paris and Los Angeles, the historic double allocation is a win-win situation for both the cities. Both share a great Olympic history and are enthusiastic about promoting the game in a fantastic way.
