Paris transport hub evacuated, World War II bombshell in passenger’s bag

A London-bound passenger tried to take a Second World War bombshell through security which led to the evacuation of the Paris terminus of Eurostar.

 

 

The services were delayed between 20 and 70 minutes and there were widespread disruption during the evacuation of the terminal at Gare du Nord. It was noted that one train arrived over an hour late in London, UK-bound services were also affected and there were delays to returning trains.

 

 

According to a spokesperson- Earlier this morning at approximately 8.20am (French time) in Paris Gare du Nord, a passenger tried to check in with an old war relic.
The passenger tried checking –in with war relic so the station was evacuated and the Eurostar check-in was suspended for approximately an hour.

 

 

 

The spokesperson apologized for the inconvenience caused to these passengers. Since the train were delayed by more than 60 minutes the customers will be getting their usual compensation.

 

 

Before boarding the express train travellers using the Channel Tunnerl rail service were obliged to go through a security check. There is an explicit ban on military shells including war souvenir and relics by the Eurostar.

 

 

Apart from the information mentioned on the website there are lots of signs at check-in and members of staff at the terminal in Paris that warns passengers on the items prohibited to carry on board Eurostar.
