Parshuram Kund in Arunachal to be developed into tourist hotspot

On Monday, Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein, reassessed the improvement of Parshuram Kund Development Project (PKDP) being applied at the holy pilgrimage site in Lohit district.


The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, funded Rs. 37.87 crore project under the Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive (PRASAD) scheme, is being executed by the public works department of the state.
In the meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister said that in India, Parshuram Kund is going to be one of the biggest pilgrimage sites and it will be modified into a major tourist destination.


He requested the executing agency to speed up the work on war footing accordingly. Mein asked the deputy commissioner of Lohit to map the earmarked area of 75 hectares in Parshuram Kund and to free the place from all hindrances.


He also asked the PKDP project manager to develop a master plan featuring like river-front restaurant, view point, Children Park, guest house, etc. These can be taken up in the second phase of the said project.
The deputy chief minister also said that funds for flood protection and boundary wall for Parshuram Kund has been sanctioned by the state government already.
