The Pacific Asia Travel Association Nepal Chapter marked a historic milestone by commemorating its Grand Golden Jubilee, celebrating 50 years of continuous contribution to the growth and transformation of Nepal’s tourism sector. The landmark occasion took place on 29 December 2025 at Royal Tulip Kathmandu, bringing together a distinguished gathering of policymakers, tourism leaders, industry veterans, private sector innovators, international partners, and emerging professionals from across the country.
The celebration served as a powerful reflection on five decades of public–private collaboration that has shaped Nepal’s tourism landscape since the Chapter’s establishment in 1975. Over the years, PATA Nepal Chapter has played a pivotal role in strengthening tourism planning, policy dialogue, destination marketing, skills development, and crisis recovery, positioning Nepal as a respected destination within the global tourism community.
The ceremony was formally inaugurated by the Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Government of Nepal, who acknowledged the Chapter’s long-standing influence on national tourism development. The address highlighted how PATA Nepal Chapter has consistently acted as a bridge between government institutions and the private sector, supporting policy advocacy, sustainable tourism initiatives, and international promotion at critical moments in Nepal’s tourism journey.
A special video message from the Chief Executive Officer of PATA conveyed congratulations on the Golden Jubilee and praised the Nepal Chapter for its exemplary engagement within the global PATA network. The message emphasized the Chapter’s leadership in advancing responsible tourism practices and its active role in fostering regional cooperation across Asia and the Pacific.

The celebration opened on a cultural note, with traditional welcome music setting the tone for the evening. This was followed by a vibrant cultural dance performance presented by the Chapter’s Young Tourism Professionals, symbolizing Nepal’s rich heritage while showcasing the energy and vision of the next generation of tourism leaders.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of PATA Nepal Chapter expressed sincere appreciation to the founding leadership, former chairpersons, and past executive members who laid the foundation for the organization’s success. He also thanked current members, partners, and stakeholders for their enduring trust and collaboration, noting that the Chapter’s achievements over 50 years were the result of collective effort and shared commitment.

As part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations, the Annual Awards and Felicitation Ceremony honored individuals whose work has left a lasting impact on Nepal’s tourism industry. The Lifetime Achievement Award recognized decades of dedication to sustainability, conservation, and hospitality. The Tourism Trail Blazer Award celebrated leadership in community-based and sustainable tourism initiatives. The Tourism Personality of the Year accolade acknowledged consistent industry contributions and strong engagement with the Chapter, while the Special Contribution Award honored pioneering efforts in adventure and cultural tourism.
In addition, partner organizations, tourism associations, academic institutions, and key individuals were recognized for their long-standing support and collaboration, reflecting the broad network that has supported the Chapter’s mission over five decades.
The Golden Jubilee celebration concluded with a renewed commitment by PATA Nepal Chapter to advance sustainable, inclusive, and resilient tourism.
