Peru has once again won several awards at the World Travel Awards ceremony for excellence in tourism and environmental sustainability. Explorandes, a Peruvian adventure tour operator, was awarded the world’s Leading Green Tour Operator, which acknowledges their commitment to environmental preservation.

Martin Romero, general manager of Explorandes, is proud that the commitment that Explorandes dedicates to preserving the environment is being valued. “This distinction shows that effort and dedication always pay off. “We are proud and grateful to our employees, suppliers, clients, and allies for their trust. For over 20 years we have been renewing our sustainability management systems to have an operation that minimizes waste generation, is carbon neutral and contributes to conservation of nature”.

The World Travel Awards were created in 1993 to recognize and celebrate excellence in travel, tourism, and hospitality industries. It is the ultimate seal of excellence.

Peru, an exceptional destination for adventure and ecotourism

The adventure and ecotourism market is sized at US$685 billion worldwide; every year approximately 350 million tourists seek authentic experiences that connect them with nature and local cultures.

“There are two prevailing trends in the tourism industry, a growing demand for sustainable travel that contributes to the local economy and preserves the environment, and adventures in nature. Peru has the potential to become the best adventure destination in the world.”

Peru has eight natural regions, perfectly differentiated and distinguishable, distributed in the coast, highlands and jungle. In each destination there are different formal tour operators that, like Explorandes, offer tours and activities with high quality services, and high safety and sustainability standards.

Peru’s incredible geography encourages adventure activities such as trekking in the Andes, canoeing and rafting in crystalline rivers, mountain biking, surfing on beautiful beaches and so on.

“We are experts in developing active experiences with low environmental impacts. We have routes and activities in six different categories. In a single trip our clients can book a trek along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, camp under the stars, climb ice walls, and raft down rivers,” says Romero.

In addition to its geographical location, Peru stands out from other countries for its cultural legacy, natural heritage, varied gastronomy (one of the World’s Top Gastronomy countries), and, most important, the warmth of their people.
