peruColca Valley, located in Peru’s southern Arequipa region, welcomed 10,926 domestic and foreign tourists on April 13-16, on the occasion of Holy-Week holidays.

According to State-run Colca Valley Autonomous Authority (Autocolca), foreign travelers led the ranking of visitors. They mainly came from European and Latin American countries, as well as from the United States.

Likewise, Arequipeans arrived in the area following Autocolca’s decision to waive admission fees for those born in the region.

Caylloma Province Mayor Romulo Tinta underlined the number was important taking into account tourist inflow had significantly decreased over recent weeks.

The most visited places were the popular Condor’s Cross Viewpoint and La Calera thermal baths, among others.

Colca Valley is located four hours from the city of Arequipa if traveling by bus.
