The Department of Tourism (DOT), Philippines has confirmed that as many as 99,088 visitors had arrived here from India till November 2017.
The Indian market continues to be among the most significant contributors of international travellers to the Philippines. India has jumped up to the prestigious 12th position for visitor arrivals in the Philippines and is constantly maintaining the position.
SanJeet, Tourism Attaché, Philippines Tourism Marketing Office India mentioned that with this growth rate the DOT’s plan of achieving 100,000 Indian tourist arrivals by the end of 2017 would be achieved very easily.
He then added that the double-digit growth in tourist arrivals can also be attributed to the important metros and also the feeder markets.
He then added that the disposable income for leisure an travel-related passions among middle and affluent class tourists are some of the important reasons behind the remarkable growth of this destination.
Furthermore he said that there has also been a steady increase in MICE movement and also FTIs and small groups travelling from India.
Over the last few years, DOT Philippines had been promoting the archipelago actively.
They have been promoting it not only as a holiday destination but also for weddings, small group travel and MICE. Destinations including Palawan, Davao, Cebu, Bohol, Boracay and Manila have been promoted quite strongly in the last few years.
