Officials of Phuket tourism are expecting a good revival in terms of inbound tourists from India and help improve the financial system of the island after a road show to the subcontinent earlier this month.

The road show was organized from Aug 1st – 6th. The show witnessed over 40 Phuket tour operators to the Indian cities of Mumbai, New Delhi, and Bangalore.

The Phuket Tourist Association had arranged the road show together with the Phuket Provincial Administration Organization.

Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Deputy Governor Thanet Petchsuwan and Pattarat Hongtong, Ambassador of Thailand to India were also present at the road show.

In a statement, Anuparb Wechwanichsanong, PPAO Deputy President, explained last week that the team of tourism business operators of Phuket exchanged words with 300 tour operators in the three prominent cities in India.

From Thailand, the group Phuket business operators were the first representatives to arrange promotional campaigns in India after the restrictions related to pandemic had been raised, Mr. Anuparb said.

In Phuket, the Indian market is believed to be the number one market. Over 83,000 Indian tourists, from May until July, have visited Phuket, as there are over 40 airlines that travelers can access every week that fly directly into Phuket, Mr Anuparb noted.

He added that August is a special month as well as it commemorates the 75th anniversary of the development of Thai-India relations.
