Indian PM stresses on the necessity to sync Mysuru’s expansion with wellness tourism

Before the ‘International Day of Yoga’, the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi emphasized on the necessity to sync Mysuru’s expansion with wellness and tourism.


Listing a couple of projects that the Center has initiated for Mysuru’s improvement, the PM said that yoga will create a brand for Mysuru at the international stage. At a public meeting after introducing a handful of expansion projects, the PM said that he’ll carry on focusing on Mysuru’s improvement. He said that in the state of Karnataka, we get to see both spirituality and economic improvement.


Mysuru is a meeting point of history, heritage and modernism. Hence, the city has a special allure for tourists. To join the world with a hale and hearty lifestyle, Mysuru was chosen for Yoga Day celebrations.


Crores of people connected with Mysuru for celebrating Yoga Day. The PM said that once the new railway facilities are finished, Mysuru’s connectivity will get a facelift. Before 2014, share of Karnataka in the railway budget was Rs. 800 crore. This year, it is Rs. 7,000 crore. The electrification of railway is also being carried on.


Between 2004 and 2014, only 60 kms railway lines had electrification and 1,600 kms of electrification has been achieved in eight years, said the PM. He remembered the offerings of Mysuru maharaja Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyary, poet laureate Kuvempu and dewan Sir M Visvesvaraya reharding the state’s wellbeing.
