Poole HarbourCruise vessels would be able to operate from Poole Harbour with the opening of a £10 million new cruise berth.

Cruise & Maritime Voyages is offering departures from this port this summer after the development by Poole Harbour Commissioners. Poole Harbour that is based in Dorset is the largest natural harbor in Europe but then had been previously been restricted to offering ferry services.

The new South Quay berth would be able to deal with ships with a capacity of up to 1,000 passengers with 25 calls scheduled for this year.

The first cruise ship to utilize the berth – US firm Grand Cruise Line’s 98-passenger Cornithian is scheduled to dock on Sunday.

PHC chief executive Jim Stewart said that they are confident that Poole will become a key port for cruise companies going forward.
