Portugal’s Sintra Welcomes an Elegant New Resort as Cycas Hospitality Expands Its European Portfolio

Cycas Hospitality has unveiled its first venture in Portugal with the announcement of an Autograph Collection resort-style hotel in Sintra, a UNESCO-recognized cultural gem near Lisbon. This milestone marks the hotel management company’s debut on the Iberian Peninsula, further solidifying its presence in Southern Europe.

This new addition to Cycas Hospitality’s portfolio brings the company’s managed properties to over 55 hotels across 13 European countries. The Sintra project is being developed through a joint venture between Patron Capital, a pan-European investor specializing in property-backed assets, and Quest Capital, its operational partner. The joint venture has tasked Cycas Hospitality with overseeing the hotel’s management.

A Unique Design in a Historic Setting

Scheduled to open in the summer of 2026, the hotel will stand out with its remarkable design, featuring 15 separate buildings. Together, they will host up to 260 guests in an array of rooms, suites, and villas. A highlight is the signature sea-view wedding suite, catering to couples seeking a picturesque venue.

The property occupies the site of a former Companhia União Fabril (CUF) employee holiday complex. Paying homage to the legacy of António Lino, the renowned architect behind the original structure, the new development will preserve key elements of its classic design. This careful restoration ensures that the hotel retains its historical charm while offering modern luxuries.

Wellness, Nature, and Elegance in Harmony

Nestled in Sintra’s unique landscape of sea, forest, and land, the resort will focus on wellness and relaxation. Expansive sun terraces, landscaped gardens, and both indoor and outdoor pools are designed to harmonize with the area’s natural restorative qualities. Guests can also enjoy panoramic views and serene surroundings, perfect for unwinding.

Inside, the interiors will blend contemporary design with old-world sophistication, creating a luxurious yet welcoming atmosphere. Dining options will range from a destination restaurant and private dining spaces to a morning terrace for alfresco breakfasts. For special events, including weddings, the property offers elegant reception spaces, scenic outdoor venues, and luxurious suites, making it an ideal choice for celebrations.

A Growing Autograph Collection Portfolio

The Sintra hotel will join Marriott International’s Autograph Collection, which boasts over 290 unique properties worldwide. Known for their individuality and charm, Autograph Collection hotels reflect the personal vision of their founders, ensuring no two properties are alike.

This latest project also strengthens Cycas Hospitality’s partnership with Marriott International, complementing other properties in their portfolio, such as the flagship Autograph London Bankside and the recently launched Moxy Paris Clamart.

With its mix of historical preservation, modern design, and luxury amenities, this Sintra resort promises to become a standout destination in Portugal, attracting both leisure travelers and event organizers.
