 Tuesday, February 26, 2019

Due to the high winds, flights are not taking off or arriving at LaGuardia Airport on time. Some of the flights have been grounded due to dangerous winds. The gusts have reached up to 60 mph and caused traffic jams on Monday morning with power outages. The winds are roaring across the Tri-State area causing trees and power lines to fall.

On Sunday evening, LaGuardia tweeted that the weather was causing flight disruptions. At 10 a.m. EST, La Guardia tweeted that arrivals were delayed by 2 hours and 58 minutes while departures were delayed 31 to 45 minutes. Airborne arrivals were reportedly delayed by 38 minutes.

As per FlightAware.com, currently, LaGuardia is number two in the country for the highest number of cancellations. They’ve had 50 flights cancelled and 157 flights delayed, putting them in the top spot for delays.

LaGuardia isn’t the only one to be affected by gusts of winds in the northeast this morning. Newark International is currently experiencing delays averaging 3 hours and 36 minutes. Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport has witnessed one hour and eight-minute delay, while Philadelphia International Airport saw a delay of 1 hour and 48-minute.
