In Madhya Pradesh, several areas are well-known for their art and culture however; they haven’t been recognized properly. Pranpur in Ashoknagar district is a village. It has become an important instance of rural tourism as the art and culture of this village is now reaching different corners of the country and world as well, creating a major change in the lives of the people residing here.
The village of Pranpur is situated on the road going from Lalitpur to Chanderi and is encircled with gorgeous and green valleys. Besides people who are adept in handloom and clay, the locals who make stone carvings also attract outsiders in here. In spite of all this, Pranpur in 2005 came to the forefront after it occupied a part in the tourism project and the Amraee Rural Heritage Resort was built here.
About Pranpur, there’s an interesting story taking shape as its set to become a rural tourism hub in the future. Anand Upadhyay of Bird Volunteer Organisation explains that he was associated with the campaign in 2002 to fortify self help groups for women empowerment in Guna district. At this time, the tourism project came to the fore; the reason of this project was to add to livelihoods of the rural people along with safeguarding handicrafts, historical heritage and ancient culture of rural India. A proposal was made and delivered to the central government, which was sanctioned later on.
