Princess Cruises is making several changes to its itineraries for several of its ships making port calls to Skagway, AK. This decision has been taken as the biggest port of Skagway is closed due to the threat of rockslide risk. The railroad dock is also closed. It is the primary location where its Royal Class ships dock at that destination.

According to the decision, the July 26 call of Majestic Princess will instead call on Icy Strait Point. However, the Crown Princess will continue with its scheduled call in Skagway Tuesday, as it docks at a different Skagway pier.

The 27 July call of Royal Princess, July 28 visit of Discovery Princess and July 30 visit of Grand Princess will also be affected by the route changing decision.

Princess cruise has decided to put the safety of its passengers first before anything else. Since Alaska is in a very sensitive condition due to the recent wildfires. This possible rockslide risk is a potential threat to customer safety.

Princess cruise is an American cruise company which is owned by Carnival Corporation & plc. The headquarters are in Santa Clarita. This decision is praiseworthy as more people will feel safe onboarding Princess.
