This year, Pudong will permit around 200 countryside B&B hotels to make the most of the reviving tourism sectors, while improving the village revenue.
The minsu lodgings, which are the Chinese equal to B&B, are largely reconditioned from countryside houses in pastoral towns.
These housings are expected to fetch approximately 500,000 tourists to the new area and drive the yearly intake by 2 billion Yuan, said Huang Wei, the director of Pudong’s promotional department.
On March 15, the Pudong government released ‘comprehensive minsu license’ for the first lot of 50 operators.
The pilot exercise targets to ease the consent processes, lower the market inception and energize the market vivacity, said Huang.
Pudong has unlimited tourism resources, comprising 25 A-level tourism attractions, 38 starred hotels and 41 ideal villages, said Sun Yu, the director of Pudong’s culture, sports and tourism office.
The new area lures more than 80 million visitors yearly on average, who spend around 30 billion Yuan all in all. The best attractions comprise the Shanghai Disney Resort and the Xinchang ancient town, a nicely preserved water town with connections linking back to the Southern Song Dynasty.
Right from the Spring Festival this year, the occupancy level of few resorts and hotels in Pudong featured more than 90 percent, while most of the minsus have also been packed with customers, said Huang.
