Flight QR343 will be operated by a Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft was greeted with a water cannon salute on arrival.
Portuguese ambassador to Qatar, Ricardo Pracana, and Qatar Airways chief commercial officer, Simon Talling-Smith were present on board the inaugural flight to Lisbon.
Qatar Airways Group chief executive, Akbar Al Baker was delighted to launch direct services to Lisbon, the latest addition to Qatar Airways’ rapidly expanding European network.
Lisbon is known for extensive history and culture with a rich artistic and gastronomic heritage.
He is looking forward to welcome business and leisure travellers alike on board so that they can experience the destination which is one of the oldest capitals in western Europe.
There will be 22 seats in business class and 232 seats in economy in the new daily services to Lisbon that will be operated by the airline’s state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
Qatar Airways’ air freight network has also been joined by Lisbon and the carrier’s cargo arm will be offering a total capacity of 70 tonnes to and from Portugal each week. There will also be a direct connection to destinations in Europe, the Middle East and the Americas via Doha.
