Qatar investors aiming Zanzibar

The temperate coastlines of the Indian Ocean, Zanzibar’s historical and cultural sites are at present attracting many Middle East holidaymakers.


Dr. Hussein Mwinyi, President, Zanzibar, in May 2023, had visited Qatar and talked and made fruitful agreement with tourism investors and other Qatar-based business owners to invest in the islands of Zanzibar. Dr. Mwinyi explained that the government of Zanzibar was keen on developing conference and heritage tourism, banking on island’s gorgeous tourist resorts that are available.


The president observed that the close relations between Zanzibar and Qatar had attained important development in drawing and protecting sustainable investments. He invited businessmen of Qatar to discover Zanzibar’s tons of opportunities in terms of real estate, infrastructure, hospitality, tourism, industry, agriculture, and energy.


Dr. Mwinyi underlined the tactical site of Zanzibar, stating that it is easy to get to many economic blocs including the the East African Community, Southern African Development Community and the African Continental Free Trade Area, which all present for the investors a large market to use.


His accompanying team had experts from different financial authorities in Zanzibar and  Tanzania, comprising the Tanzania Investment Centre and Zanzibar Investment Promotion Authority.


Dr. Mwinyi met with Mr. Muhammed Bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari, the Vice Chairman of the Qatar Business Council, while he was in Doha along with the private sector stakeholders of industry.
