Qatar Tourism has recently bonded over a new partnership with Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) UK & Ireland. By this, it became the latest country in the Middle East to restore its cruise sector in a bid to highlight the Gulf state as a tourism destination in the region.

This initiation signifies that Qatar Tourism is set to become one of the star sponsors of the CLIA Selling Cruise Day at present, taking place in the UK’s Southampton on 4th of November 2021 as well as the sponsor of the annual CLIA Cruise Forum in December 2021.

The partnership will help in CLIA promoting Qatar to its community of cruise liners, travel agents and stakeholders overseas.

To quote COO of Qatar Tourism Berthold Trenkel, “This partnership is part of Qatar Tourism’s ongoing strategy to diversify the tourism sector in Qatar, and attract new customer segments.”

“Cruise is an important pillar of our tourism strategy – we have signed number agreements already for the coming season – and Qatar has made serious investments into cruise infrastructure such as the new cruise terminal that will be ready to welcome visitors for the FIFA World Cup 2022,” Trenkel added.
