Quang Ninh to turn tourism into a vital sector

In 2017, the local tourism industry showed encouraging outcome. The number of total tourist arrivals reached around 9.87 million, with 18 percent rise than 2016. Among them, overseas visitors numbered 4.28 million, a 23 percent raise from the year before.

 
From tourism, total income was close to VND17.9 trillion (US$784.2 million), a 30 percent growth from the previous year. A tourist visiting the province spends on average $82.3 in every visit, roughly $8.3 per guest more than in 2016.

 
In June 2017, the province organized the APEC High-level Policy Dialogue on Sustainable Tourism in Ha Long City. Tourism space has kept on getting expanded from urban to rural areas in the province.

 
The year before 2017, in the Department and District Competitiveness Index (DDCI) of the province, Tourism Department positioned 12th among 15 units. However, in last year, the Tourism Department made developments in competitiveness and ranked sixth among 21 units.

 
The enhancement demonstrated enterprises thought better of the department’s management.

 
In 2017, the department arranged many conferences and workshops to sustain enterprises, particularly enterprises offering travel, hotel and transport services. The department was reviewed as the main unit of the province with the shortest time spent to deal with cases.

 
Nonetheless, there are always problems within the tourism business environment. We have talked about regarding this with local experts and came to the conclusion to adjust some management policies, to publicize service prices and enhance service quality.
