The annual Sand Safari Arts Festival returns to celebrate all things sand and sea as Kings and Queens of the castle converge on Surfers Paradise in Queensland.

The Festival transforms the iconic foreshore into a family-friendly fantasy sandscape. The event is underway and runs until February 24.

An initiative of Surfers Paradise Alliance, the free event commenced with the Australian Sand Sculpting Championships where spectators are invited to witness the nation’s best professional sculptors as they carve mesmerising, life-sized masterpieces from 10 tonnes of sand.

Visitors can vote for their favourite creation each carved from 10 tonnes of sand, and will then remain on display on the iconic foreshore until Sunday 25th February.
