All prepared to boost up the tourism in Raigad district in Maharashtra, the Phansad wildlife sanctuary in Murud will be opening for public anytime soon. Officials have done the first round of inspection so far by visiting Janjira fort and Rajpuri port and other places of interest.

District information officer, Manoj Sanap explained that on Sunday, the guardian minister for Raigad, Aditi Tatkare, along with other MTDC officials and the forest department visited Phansad sanctuary.

“The minister instructed that steps be taken to increase tourism in the sanctuary. So, officials must work out plans to attract tourists,” said Sanap.

The tourist route from Alibaug to Murud has eye-catching attractions like Rajpuri port, Janjira fort, beaches, Khora jetty, Nawab palace in addition to others.

MTDC and forest officials have also talked about self-help groups and training of locals as guides in addition to other measures.
