Rajasthan government approves training and licensing of 6000 new tourist guides

 Friday, April 2, 2021

For increasing employment opportunities in tourism, the Rajasthan government has approved training and licensing of 6000 new tourist guides. This decision is extremely important for creating self-employment opportunities in the state.

The cabinet, with its Rajasthan Tourism Trade (Facilitation and Regulation) Amendment Rules – 2021 policy, will select, train and provide license to new tourist guides. The scheme will be relevant for all urban local body regions of Rajasthan. The government has also given their nod to the guest house scheme, under which accommodation facilities will be available for tourists in residential premises as guest houses. The maximum number of rooms for such guesthouses will be 20.

As a result of the pandemic, Rajasthan tourism has suffered significantly in terms of economy, and hence, self-employment measures are the need of the hour. Meanwhile, Rajasthan has witnessed a sudden spike in the Coronavirus numbers, and thus the government has extended night curfew timings by an hour in eight worst-affected districts of Ajmer, Bhilwara, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Udaipur, Sagwada (Dungarpur) and Kushalgarh (Banswara). The curfew hours before this were between 11 PM and 5 PM. Now, curfew will be implemented from 10 PM. Markets in all the eight districts will be shut by 9 PM instead of 10 PM.
