Rajasthan govt plans to offer new tourism products focusing on crafts, gastronomy

In an effort to draw more tourists to the region, the Rajasthan government has made the decision to introduce new tourism items, such crafts and gastronomy tourism. This comes on the heels of a spike in tourist numbers in the state.


“Many innovative steps are being taken by the government to give tourists more choices to enjoy the state,” Business Standard quoted a tourism department official as saying.


Speaking of one such measure, the official continued by stating that the promotion of crafts and food will not only increase tourists but also support livelihoods by fostering self-employment.


He said that the state will promote its long history of handicrafts. Additionally, channels for direct marketing similar to Delhi Haat will be made available.With the assistance of the department of industries, these platforms will be accessible in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, and Bikaner.


Additionally, the Virasat Museum in Jaipur and all state institutions run by the department of art and culture will exhibit dying crafts.


Additionally, there is a proposal to advertise Rajasthani cuisine by creating gourmet food trails and hosting food festivals.


The official stated that similar trials like Masala Chowk in Jaipur would be carried out in other state cities.The state received nearly 100 million domestic tourists in 2022, according to the tourism department.


Additionally, the state’s tourism department is developing new tourist routes. Additionally, there has been a rise in religious tourism in the state in recent years. To encourage religious tourism, the state government will spend over Rs 24 crore.
