On Tuesday, the Department of Rajasthan Tourism observed Gangaur, the festival of love, devotion, and marital bliss among couples, on April 3rd. It will continue for 18 days. North Indian states of India celebrate this festival. The name Gangaur is derived from the words Gana meaning Lord Shiva and Gaur meaning Goddess Parvati. Many nationals of other countries also took part in the festival. Married couples take part in the festivities wishing for long life of their spouses. On this day, unmarried women fast and pray for a nice husband.

To quote Deputy Director, Upendra Singh Shekhawat, “A historical glimpse was seen in the Gangaur Festival. It is the effort of the department that managed to organize it well despite the prevalence of the pandemic over the past 2 years.”

To quote a foreigner, I’m happy to be here and attend this festival. It feels great to be here honestly.”
