RARE India has won the first edition of the PATA India Tourism Impact Competition. The organization has won this competition for the ‘RARE Touchstones’. It has been recognized by the contest jury for creating a model for a planet-friendly tourism platform.

RARE India was picked as the winner by PATA India from among 100 entries received from several stakeholders from the travel and tourism industry of India.

Shobhana Jain, the Head of Sustainability at RARE India said that they express their gratitude to PATA India for introducing such an award, which is extremely important post pandemic, when there is a need to change the entire travel narrative, and when several people are working diligently to initiate a positive change.

Through the RARE Touchstones, RARE India has presented an outline and a self-audit set of parameters that document over 100 hotel partners in the RARE Community to make use of improved, maintainable, attentive, slow, responsible and reformative travel practices.

Regarding the RARE Touchstones, Shobhana Jain said that RARE India has presented a way out of the damaging effects of mindless and mass tourism. If the Touchstones are applied and accepted, it can alter travel experiences toward the reliable and immersive with negligible ecological footprint. Going forth, RARE India will continue to prod the Community within and around for improving the current responsible tourism practices, learn from each other and generate a constructive impact.
