Greek island Aegean experiences the highest number of tourist arrival in the last couple of days. The first ten days of the month of July have recorded the highest number of tourists. The number of passenger arrivals in Greece has crossed 2 million.
The Minister of Tourism of Greece, Vassilis Kikilias revealed that the number of arrivals at airports of the South Aegean in the first ten days of July surpassed the volumes registered in the same period in 2019 as a report.
The statement of the minister alludes that an increase of 24 per cent is observed on average in Dodecanese and Cyclades. As compared to the corresponding period of July 2019, with arrivals at the five international airports of the South Aegean exceeding 2 million. The records have been updated up to 10 July. The passengers are arriving through 13,006 direct international flights.
Santorini tops the list with an increase of 62 per cent in tourist arrivals compared to the first ten days in July 2019. Three other islands Mykonos, Rhodes, and Kos are exceeding the usual number of passengers.
In Mykonos, a 37 per cent tourist arrival has been observed. Rhodes registered an increase of 18 per cent, and kos has registered an increase of 13 per cent.
Among the current airline chaos in the UK, Greece happens to be the only country to record the highest number of tourists. The Minister of the UK has stated that while other countries are experiencing a decline of 16% in tourist arrival Greece is lucky to have such a rise. The Minister has stated that it is a positive impact on the tourism sector that has been created by collective effort.
He also stated that Crete has all the possibilities to become a 12-month tourist destination in Greece soon.
