Germany’s inbound tourism has registered a record growth for the ninth time in a row in 2018. According to preliminary figures of the Federal Statistical Office, 87.7 million international tourists were registered in accommodation establishments and stayed overnight for the period January- December, 2018.
This is 3.8 million more international overnight stays than in the previous year, an increase of five percent.
Petra Hedorfer, Chairperson of the German National Tourist Board (GNTB), explains, “At over 5%+, German inbound tourism grew even more dynamically in 2018 than in the two previous years (1.4%+ and 3.6%+. Favorable economic conditions and stability in important source markets contributed to this excellent result.
“On the other hand, we see in it confirmation that we are consistently aligning our global marketing with our partners to the current challenges of digital transformation. This enables us to analyze individualized customer needs even more efficiently and place suitable offers for our tourism partners. ”
