Redefining tourism post COVID-19

Today while sharing thoughts at the Travel Forum and Awards Luncheon of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourist Association, at Sandals Royal Barbados,  Bartlett, Jamaica Tourism Minister, said that in this era post COVID, they all must as a region think and define once again the true significance of tourism if they are to make the most of their earnings as well as expansion.


They all must start appreciating the reality that the sector is more than exotic cruise lines, hotels, and alluring hotspots and that in the tourism value chain, there are direct, indirect and induced financial gains that can speed up the growth in the region.


The CHTA Travel Forum organized under the theme, – Tourism the Key Driver of Generational Wealth for Caribbean Nationals, saw the presences of Hon. Minister of Tourism and Transport, Cayman Islands, Kenneth Bryan, and Hon. Chairman, CTO, Ian Gooding-Edghill, and others.


Minister Bartlett added that for that reason, tourism’s real wealth lies in the capacity to provide on the demands of the sector.


The Caribbean Travel Forum was arranged within the margins of CHTA Caribbean Travel Marketplace, is a recent incident aiming on tourism’s business in the Caribbean with special stress on intra-Caribbean
travel, by targeting on multi-destination marketing, air connectivity sustainability, innovations in technology, limitations in labour market and similar topics.


Also, the Forum panel emphasized climate change and its impact on the tourism industry.
