According to a new research more than half of the British holidaymakers will be shunning the European mini-breaks due to Brexit.

The potential negative effects caused by the UK leaving the EU will put off around 56 per cent.

The increase in flight cost will imply that four in 10 people went on fewer EU mini-breaks post Brexit after a survey of 2,000 Brits by the comparison site Finder.com.

Around 33 per cent of the respondents claimed that the devaluation of the pound after Brexit would restrict them from taking trips to Europe and uncertain exchange rates would be an issue.

Those within the age group of 18-38 were anxious about the mobile phone costs where 19 per cent said that they would be less keen to travel to EU countries if the data roaming charges were reintroduced.

Those from Northern Ireland and North East of England were concerned about their travel plans getting affected because of Brexit.

Longer passport queues was another concern and 25 per cent mentioned that they would travel less to the EU, while a third of those in Scotland and 31 per cent in North East believe it will be a major factor in decision-making while planning European short breaks.

Another reason being the loss of European Health Insurance Card(EHIC) which will drive 21 per cent of the UK travellers to go for fewer trips.

Jon Ostler, CEO (UK) of finder.com said that Finder’s resrach showed that the stability of GBP was a major concern for many Brits and major factor while booking holidays.

The British holidaymakers were advised to keep a track on the exchange rate before planning so that they can spend appropriately.

It is evident that higher costs will be influencing people to go for more staycations. He was surprised that roaming charges, health insurance and passport queues had such a bearing on the choice of destination.
