It’s not only love or family feuds that call for revenge. Travelling too can contribute to ‘Revenge Tourism’. Unheard of? Well, ‘revenge tourism’ is a term coined post Covid-19 and it started late last year or earlier. And UAE residents seem to play full on in it as they are likely to take multiple trips and vacations in the coming year.
Tourism has rebounded strongly after the pandemic and residents of UAE plan to utilise this opportunity to the fullest.
Mir Wasim Raja, manager of MICE & Holidays at Galadari International Travel Services was quoted by a news agency as saying, “The first quarter is pretty strong, especially on the corporate and MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibition) front. Because it’s a normal journey now for people, similar to the pre-pandemic level. In addition, families are travelling as well. So both inbound and outbound travel is very strong.”
Avinash Adnani, managing director of Pluto Travels, is also of a similar opinion and expects “a bumper period till the holy month of Ramadan in March as the positive impact of the Fifa World Cup will remain strong till the first quarter of 2023.”
This year has been extremely positive for Dubai’s tourism sector with the boost received from Expo 2020 Dubai and FIFA World Cup 2022. The UAE government’s cool winter season campaign is also expected to give a fillip to the travel and tourism sector within the country.
