The Riviera Nayarit is one of the most popular beach destinations in Mexico with domestic travelers. It has strengthened its efforts to promote sustainable development with EarthCheck, which is the leading sustainability program for the travel and tourism industry.

Marc Murphy, managing director of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), said that the Riviera Nayarit is committed to offer a destination that allows different types of travelers to take pleasure in safe spaces and exclusive experiences in distinctive natural environment.

Conserving biodiversity, societal contributions, community actions, and supporting local suppliers are some of the compliance standards among others.

Since 2016, the CVB has maintained the Fraccionamiento Náutico Turístico Nuevo Vallarta neighborhood within a chosen few group of sustainable tourism locations certified under the international EarthCheck standard the Silver certification level.

In the same vein, Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta hotel development and the Hard Rock Vallarta, Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit, Grand Palladium Vallarta, and Iberostar Playa Mita hotels also have the EarthCheck Certified seal, which reveal their environmental and social achievements, assuring consumers that the destination practices what it preaches.
