After losing out for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, shopkeepers in the heart of the Turkish Riviera had expected a strong tourism rebound this year in order to keep their businesses afloat. However, Russia’s war in Ukraine is fast diminishing their spirit and affecting their frame of mind.
“We’re trying to earn our bread through tourism, but it looks like the war has finished off this (tourism) season too,” said DevrimAkcay outside his clothing shop in the resort town of Belek, along the Mediterranean coast’s Antalya province.
