Ryanair’s website to be upgraded, mobile app and website to close for 12 hours

 Tuesday, November 6, 2018

For a system upgrade Ryanair website and mobile app will remain closed for 12 hours this week.

From 17:00 UK time on Wednesday to 05:00 on Thursday it will not be accessible and the airline apologized to customers for the inconveniences  caused and requested those needed to check in to do before the closure.

Almost each day there are about 1.5 million visits to the website and 22,700 boarding passes downloaded each day.

The airline’s policy is to charge passengers an extra £55 if they want to check in at the airport and as per the airlines the fees will stay in force.

The online check-in facility is open between 48 hours and two hours before a flight for passengers who did not pay extra to select a seat.

Europe’s largest travel website will get more improved through the upgradation. It was further reported that there was a 11% rise in traffic in October and  it carried 13.1 million passengers.

There were 500,000 passengers from Lauda, the airline founded by former Formula One champion Niki Lauda and recently bought by Ryanair.

About 300 flights were cancelled during October due to a combination of an airport handler strike at Brussels Zaventem, bad weather, and continued air traffic control staff shortages in the UK, Germany and France.

Germany’s VC pilots union cannot rule out more strikes at Ryanair, earlier last month the union had called the airline’s decision to close its base in Bremen, Germany due to a ‘declaration of war’  on unions  further stating that the move must be reversed to make progress on talks.

There was a series of industrial actions across Europe this year that Ryanair faced, it also faced criticism for introduction of new baggage rule.
