Santiburi Koh Samui recognised as a carbon-neutral and green resort

For the deep lasting commitment to the enviornment,Santiburi Koh Samui has been certified as a 2020 Green Hotel and recognized as a carbon-neutral resort.

From the Thailand Department of Environmental Quality Promotion, an entity from the Bureau of Public Participation Promotion the property which is nestled among 23 acres of landscaped gardens and coconut groves has received a 2020 Green Hotel certification.

It is recognised as a sustainable resorts and has succeeded in  enhancing the use of resources and energy of the property and improving the standard of all its services to become more environmentally friendly.

At the end of 2019 by the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization  Santiburi  Koh Samui was applauded for cutting the amount of carbon it emits and successfully offsetting the rest. The certification programme was created in collaboration with VGreen, Kasetsart University’s environmental research programme.

A comprehensive environmental programme, comprising wastewater treatment, energy saving, waste management, organic gardening, recycling, and replacing any chemicals, plastics and other harmful products with green alternatives, including a natural salt cleaning system for its private pool villas is operated by Santiburi.The resort has also trained its team in all areas of eco-friendly operations and works with responsible local suppliers that share its values.

Sabine Lamberts, Santiburi’s General Manager felt thrilled to be certified again as a carbon-neutral and green resort. The team at Santiburi has been working hard towards this status for many years by undertaking a series of important initiatives to reduce the carbon footprint, lower  energy usage and preserve the  ecosystem. These new accolades are a recognition of our ongoing efforts. He was  confident that their guests will be delighted to know that their stay remains in perfect harmony with Koh Samui’s island ecosystem.
